DGE Dr. Jayant Kulkarni

When one visualises Dr Jayant Kulkarni - the person, one has to put on different glasses to appreciate the multi dimensions of his individuality. Jayant's journey in life started in Pune where he was born on 26th September 1952. Jayant completed his BDS (1973) and MDS (1976) from Government Dental College, Mumbai, with flying colours. Currently is one of the very successful eminent dental luminaries-both academic and professional, of Mumbai and Maharashtra.

Currently he is the Head of Department, Bharati Vidyapeeth's Dental College, Navi Mumbai, besides being an undergraduate and postgraduate examiner. He went onto serve them as Vice President at the Mumbai and Maharashtra level. Rotary Club of Mulund invited him to join them in 1987. He served as President of Mulund Jaycees in 1984. He took over the reins of the club in 1993-94 wherein the club also hosted the Discon. He won the Best Rotarian Trophy twice and was awarded the RI Citation for Service in Four Avenues in 1998-99.

In District 3140, Jayant has worked on almost every important assignment- from Rotary Information, TRF Programmes, Youth Exchanges etc. PDG Madhulkar Deodhar appointed him as his District secretary (Publications directory / GML).

His acumen for perfection, depth of knowledge, drafting and discipline saw him deeply involved as an Assistant Governor (2000-01) and then in the District Bylaws Committee.

He Served as a Rotary Volunteer (the first from District 3140) in Jamaica in 1999. Through his efforts, Rtns from Jamaica contributed US$ 8200 to Dist. 3140's contribution to the Gujarat Relief Fund. He is a 2 star PHF, a TRF Benefactor, a Rotary Friendship Exchange Alumnus (Sweden 2002, Australia 2004). At the Barcelona Convention in 2002, And the piece-de-resistance, Rotary highest award RI's SER VICE ABOVE SELF was conferred on him in 2004-05.

Jayant is a total committed family man. Spouse Meena and he make a wonderful "quiet" couple in the District. They are blessed with two daughters Aditi - a commerce and law graduate and a lYE student to France in 2001-02 and Anushree - another qualified driller and filler in the family.
