Rotary District 3140 - New Member Induction Speech

My dear Rotarians,

Today, the portals of Rotary have been thrown open and it is my proud privilege to welcome you to the world brotherhood of more than 1.25 million noble volunteers belonging to over 33,000 Rotary clubs in 216 countries and geographical regions.

You have been chosen to Rotary membership by your fellow Rotarians of Rotary Club of _______________________ for two reasons :

1. They believe you to be a leader in your vocation;

2. They believe that you manifest those qualities of head and heart which fit you to interpret and impart the message of Rotary to your work place and to your neighbourhood.

You are going to be the connecting link between the idealism of Rotary and your vocation. Rotary will be enriched by your personal and vocational talents. And you will now onwards be Rotary’s Ambassador to your vocation and carry principle of service and sacrifice to the work place.

While Rotary membership is indeed an honour and privilege it accompanies duties and obligations.

These are – punctuality, regularity, commitment and participation in Rotary – Club meetings, service activities, district and Rotary International Programs & functions. You will shine in Rotary as brightly as you have in your vocation.

You will give to Rotary as much if not more than what you have been giving to your vocation.I would like to remind you of the power of example. A large section of the community – colleagues, employees, customers, neighbours – will know and judge Rotary through your example. We welcome you as a member because we believe that the Rotary ideals are safe in your keeping.
