Dr. Jayant Kulkarni, a dentist who completed his MDS in Conservative dentistry from the prestigious Govt. Dental college, Mumbai, was born in Pune, in 1952. With a variegated schooling experience that spanned Ambejogai, Hyderabad and Latur, soft spoken and simple, Jayant has been in dental practice in Mulund since 1976.

Gifted with an eye for detail, he is a dedicated Professor and HOD at the Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Dental College, Navi Mumbai. An examiner for BDS and MDS, Jayant has over 50 academic presentations and many publications to his credit. His flair, for leadership shone through as he donned the role of Vice-President, Indian Dental Association, Mumbai & Maharashtra State Branches and led a team to conduct free dental checkup of over 60,000 school children in Mumbai. He has conducted more than ten hands on workshops for private practitioners and kept abreast of the latest through continuing education programs in India, France & USA.

His non-academic leadership forays started with the Presidentship of Mulund Jaycees in 1984 followed by appointments as Secretary & Trustee, Mulund Gymkhana and executive committee member & Trustee, Hariyali.

Then began his tryst with Rotary when he was invited to join the RC of Mulund in April 1987. Jayant, whom every governor considered an asset became a Dist. Secretary 1997-98; Asst. Governor 2000-01, Chair for Railway adoption project 2002-03 chair - Cenetennial vocational awards, GSE chair twice over 2004-05 and 2005-06, Member Dist. By laws Committee., Dist. Chairman, Rotary Service Week & Dist. Asst. Trainer 2006-07.

Meticulous Jayant streamlined IYE rules & compiled the District Manual. Immediate past President, Rotary Foundation Alumni Assn. District 3140, he was a Rotary volunteer to Jamaica in 1999. This connection enabled him subsequently to collect a substantial USD 8200 from Jamaica for our districts Gujarat Earthquake relief fund.

A prolific writer, Jayant was many Rotary publications to his credit on Rotary information, COL, TRF and IYE among others. He actively enabled the District Directory & GML in 1997-98.

This two star PHF and benefactor of the TRF is a recipient of Dist. Foundation Service Award 1997-98 & 2005-06. Internationality beckoned Jayant as he was chosen as member of RI’s Youth Exchange Resource Group 2001-02 and then was a panelist for discussion on Short Term Youth Exchanges at RI’s Pre-convention Youth Exchange meeting in Barcelona-2002. Married to the quiet and highly efficient Meena with whom Jayant went to Sweden in 2002 & Australia in 2004 under Rotary’s Friendship Exchange Program, he won the prestigious R.I.s ‘Service Above Self Award in’-2004-05.

Meena and Jayant are blessed with two lovely daughters. Aditi, a Rotary Youth Exchange student to France-2001-02 now working with a law firm and younger Anushree a filler and driller a la daddy. Interested in Photography, travel and music well respected and popular Jayant has metamorphosed to a richly deserved leadership position of District Governor of this premier District.
