DGE Balkrishna Inamdar

Balkrishna Inamdar, a multifaceted personality excelled in every sphere of life medical profession, sports and of course Rotary. He is national scholar and stood 9th in medical merit list in 1973. He did his M.D. (Gynecology-Obstetrics) from Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital and went to KIEL University, Germany for a post graduate Diploma in Pelviscopic Surgery. He heads Datt Maternity and Surgical Home (ISO 9001 certified hospital in Goregaon) and Datt Medicare Centre (day care centre at Borivli) and started the first full fledged endoscopy unit in Mumbai Suburbs.

 

He became the Vice President IMA Maharashtra State (2007-08). As the President of IMA Mumbai West (2010-11) he bagged a record number of awards including Best Adjudged President in all branches of IMA, India. He was invited to join Rotary Club of Mumbai West Coast as its charter member in 1996, and led it as President in 1999-2000. At the D 3140, his commitment and dedication was sought by many District Governors with prestigious assignments. As DS (05-06) he edited the acclaimed GML “Sparsh-Touching Lives”.

 

He was invited as speaker at R.I. convention, Birmingham to speak on ‘Thematic Ryla’ – ‘Water Ryla’ and his interview on the subject also appeared on R.I. Website. He has many publications to his credit including ABC of HIV / Aids, Rural Development –a Rotary perspective and Rotary information Diskett. A good speaker, he has addressed around 500 club meetings & other groups on Rotary & non Rotary subjects. He is major Donor of Rotary Foundation and his wife and two daughters are PHFs. He is Founder Chair of Forum of Doctors Against Sex Determination and Female Feticide and Technical Advisor on the subject to Govt. of Maharashtra. He is keen sportsman, a chess champion (Patkar College & GSMC) a cricket champion (Inter Medical Double Wicket), a University Bridge champion and is presently office bearer of many sports bodies in Mumbai. An avid traveler, he also has extensively travelled in many countries. He is soft spoken, warm, a thorough gentleman and is techno savvy man.

 

Bal, as he is often addressed, is well supported in his professional as well as Rotary activities by his charming wife Dr. Nilima, who herself is a Gynecologist and a Rotarian. Elder Daughter Shaimali is studying post graduation in Medicine and younger daughter Juili is Dental Surgeon. With this illustrious career background we are assured of an outstanding Rotary year 2012-13 for D 3140, under his able and dynamic leadership.
